  How to...

Create a link to your channel

You can create Hyperlinks to a filetopia channel in your 'away' messages or your channel's 'welcome' message, so visitors can click on that link to go to that channel. To make a link, type the following in your 'Away' or 'Welcome' message:

ftopia:chat:<name of the channel >.
where <name of the channel. > is the name of your channel without the < >
Notice the "." at the end, this is important in particular if the name has spaces in it.
For example, to create a link to the Filetopia Newbies channel, type:
ftopia:chat:Filetopia Newbies.
Create a link to send messages

In a similar way as the tip above, you can also create hyperlinks to send a message to someone. To make a message-link, type the following in your 'Away' or 'Welcome' message:

msg:<Your Nick>.
Again, without the < >, and a "." at the end. So if your name is Biff, you can type:
msg:Biff.
Use typed commands in the chat:

Interpret the icons in the collection manager

You may have noticed some colored icons appearing before files when you compare lists in the collection manager. Here's what they mean:

= Hot file: This file matches a file in your hotlist.
= Ignore: This file matches a file in your ignore list.
= Duplicate, the file may be a duplicate of a file already in your list
= Downloading, the file has been added to the download list.

Create your personal Profile

In filetopia you can create a personal profile. this profile contains information about you that you want other users to know. To see someone's profile right click on a username, then select 'information'.
To create your own profile take the following steps:

Go to Tools - Options - profile:
In the profile textbox enter some text about you.
In the profile picture box you can enter a picture,
for example a photo of you. This picture should
be approximately 85 x 95 pixels.
If you want to make your profile really look nice, you can also use HTML code in the profile text box.
This way you can make use of fonts, colors etc.. etc...
You can even use a small set of pictures that comes with filetopia, you'll find these pictures in the 'C:\Filetopia\home\images' folder. Here's an example of how to use images in your profile:
<img src="C:\Filetopia\home\images\bar-lblue.gif" width="250" height="3">
